The Riga trip (5-6 February 2015) was an important opportunity to position energy efficiency at the heart of the Energy Union.
At the process for the Energy Union (5-6 February) the EU-ASE President Monica Frassoni (pictured) said “was an important opportunity to position energy efficiency at the heart of the Energy Union and will be remembered if it defines a clear pathway for energy choices and the words ENERGY and UNION have a real meaning”.
President Monica Frassoni has stressed the energy efficiency role and presented three simple proposals to be consistent with:
- check and compare whether it is more cost effective to save energy than to build more generation capacity – the so called “energy savings test” concept;
- a strong governance that is built on a serious implementation of existing legislations;
- a higher ambition for an essential energy efficiency target.
